What is Cryolipolysis?

Cryolipolysis is a cutting edge, non-surgical, non-invasive treatment for the removal of fat cells. This method involves controlled cooling to a range of -11 to +5°C for localized reduction of fat deposits. The cooling causes cell death of subcutaneous fat tissue without damaging the surrounding skin and tissues. The fatty acids are then removed by lymphatic drainage over a three to four month period. Because the time and temperature are carefully controlled, there is no risk of frostbite or other injury due to cold.

Cryolipolysis is recommended for treatment of visible fat bulges in the thighs, underneath the buttocks, abdomen, flanks (love handles), bra fat, back fat, and upper arms. Multiple sessions are typically needed for best results.

Cryolipolysis has no recovery time; clients can typically return to work and resume normal activities on the same day.

Cryolipolysis After Care:

To achieve optimal and long-lasting results, it is highly recommended that you follow your technician’s advice for home skin care before and after treatment.

We will massage the treated area immediately after treatment. You will need to massage the area every day for two weeks to help stimulate lymphatic drainage. You should avoid extreme temperatures and physical exercise which may put a strain on the treated area for 48 hours after your treatment. Skin is elastic and will usually tighten with the gradual fat loss. However, if your skin is flaccid due to weight loss or pregnancy then cryolipolysis will not solve this issue and you should consider alternate skin tightening treatments. Common side effects include redness and firmness of the treated area, transient bleaching and mild bruising around the edges of the treatment area, swelling, tenderness, bloating, cramping, muscle spasms, aching, itching, tingling, sensitive skin and numbness which can persist for several weeks.

Rare side effects include severe pain requiring medication, undulations or nodules or hyperplasia (gross enlargement) of treatment area; these occur in less than 1% of clients worldwide. If you have severe symptoms that last for more than two weeks please call us for additional instructions.
